Why Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Products Matter to Mother Earth and It's People. | Empire Street Style

Happy Earth Day from your Friends at Empire Street Style!

Why is Earth Day so important to us?  At Empire Street Style we are passionate about the fact that all of our clothing is Eco-friendly and sustainably made.  Why is it important to buy Eco-friendly and sustainable products? Good question!

Eco-friendlyproducts promote green living that help to conserve energy and also prevent air, water and noise pollution. They prove to be beneficial for the environment and also prevent human health from deterioration.

Sustainableproducts can be defined in many ways, but it's generally the practice of making sure we don’t deplete the natural resources while maintaining a prospering economy for future generations.   Being sustainable is thought to have three pillars: people, planet, and profit. For a business, this means that ensuring the wealth of employees (and people related to that business) and minimizing or even reversing its environmental impacts should be as important as turning a profit for it to be sustainable in the long run.  That is the way we operate at Empire Street Style!

Now with your new understanding of what it means to buy eco-friendly and sustainable, we hope you see why it is so important to consider buying eco-friendly  and sustainable products whenever you shop!  Doing this makes a huge impact on our environment and our well being.

At Empire Street Style we start with our sustainable fabrics which are made with Organic/Eco-Friendly yarns and finished with environmentally friendly dyes.  We are committed to doing our part in saving the environment  and the wellness of humans by providing you with an Eco-Sustainable line with new fabrics, styles, and colors in 100% Organic Cotton, Recyclable RPET, Bamboo, Eco-Triblend & Hemp.  Here is a bit more about each of our fabrics:

100% Organic Cotton is grown in an environment where no pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or herbicides have been used for a minimum of three years. Organic yarn spinners have set isolated processing areas in order to segregate the organic cotton from conventional cotton. The dyeing and finishing of organic cottons also follow a strict procedure for chemical use in processing, eliminating all materials harmful to the body and the environment.

Bamboo is one of the most sustainable fibers and happens to come from one of the fastest renewable resources. Bamboo grows incredibly fast and can do so with about a 1/3 less water to grow than cotton. Bamboo fabric is light, strong, soft to the touch and requires less dye than cotton.

RPET is another environmentally friendly fabric blend we use. RPET stands for Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate or recycled PET.  RPET is made from recycled polyesters, recycled plastics and pure, and 100% organic cotton.

Hemp is an exceptionally strong, durable, Eco-friendly fiber. This fabric has the feel of flannel and typically softens with age. Hemp is grown organically and doesn’t require insecticides or pesticides.

Our products are also made in the USA and our factory is located right in Long Island NY!  This means they have to travel less distance to get to you, also saving on emissions from trains, trucks, and boats.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope we help you learn how to Live Better, Do Better, and Dress Better.  Happy Earth Day!
